Hi people,
bear with me, I like to ramble on.
I will start by admitting I am not a huge beer fan anymore, hope to change that again.
I used to live in north adelaide and thoroughly enjoyed a good tap beer, so many options around there. friday nights at the kings head come to mind, or just a damn good coopers drop.
Then I moved to queensland and found my beloved coopers tastes like crap up here, xxxx is hardly an option and my brother just drinks corona. its ok, but its just beer.

I used to live next to an old german guy, his homebrew was probably some of the best beer I ever tasted. no idea how he did it, i was young, stupid and drunk a lot of the time. I think what changed me was one experience with an RBT, a little over 0.08 and I became sensible, no longer enjoyed a beer at the pub and at home I just tend to sip spirits. beer left my life, i miss it. it left a hole.

anyway, a few months ago i got into making neutrals and now onto rum, now i have fermenters and demijohns sitting around and spat out a quick coopers lager for the missus. she likes it and wants more. I think its average but drinkable but I can see a craft that interests me, keeps my missus happy and benefits my wallet. win

if i get to use a grain mill, big kettles and lots of gas, so be it. lets make beer !

I keep thinking I should discard this post, delete it and just say 'hello' so I don't make an idiot of myself.
what the hell, if I'm going to intro myself, I will do it properly.

oh, I'm somewhere in the middle between 50 and 60, work from home, got 2 dogs, ride old beemers and design electronics for a living..

Welcome! Sounds pretty good to me. Nice part of the world where you are and a nice drop in moderation works well. A bit of electronics doesn't go astray in this hobby and I'm sure you'll find a few bits of inspiration it opportunities here.

Take it easy and welcome,
Adro

Hi Stonemull.

Welcome.

There are plenty of us brewers on the Gold Coast and we even have a club now if you are into that sort of thing.

The local home brew shops leave a bit to be desired but Craftbrewer isn't too far up the road at Capalaba and they do a good mail order service.

How old are your Beemers? I would love a 90/6 but have to settle with my Guzzi LM3.

Damian.

my dailys an 85 K75s .. also have an 84 K100 thats waiting for a chair bargain and an FJ1100 in the shed waiting for some tlc.

Hey Stonemull.

I have owned a K100RS and a K100LT.

I rode both from the Gold Coast to Phillip Island and return.

I did an 18 hour day on the K100LT, 1200 km. I was riding with a guy on a Ducati F1 who did the same

not done any big mile days on the beemers yet, my marathon days are a bit behind me.
did adelaide to gold coast in one session on my cbx750 but slept for 24 hours when i arrived so better off stopping overnight really.
I had a trusty VF750s that did adelaide to darwin return 3 times when it was still 1000k's of dirt.

horrible frame, awesome motor.

Belated welcome mate; I'm not too far away as the crow flies so maybe one day our paths will cross.

Not really, just the odd poster here and there. The bike riders may be more aware - I've got mates who love the motorcycles so they'll keep me posted. I think the Cafe Racer sprint has been moved to the Casino Aerodrome so that takes a bit of the fun out of it. I'll be wandering around and having a squizz.

Hopefully it goes OK and you can have a crack next year.
