KK Element Hole

Wanting to remove the ratshit KK element from my kettle and probably use it as a mash tun. Need advise on filling the 32mm hole. Can you buy a plug? just incase I want to change it back at some stage.

I went through three of those ratshit KK elements in my HLT back in the day & finally replaced with an 1800w element from CraftBrewer which had the same diameter thread thus fitting the hole left by the KK.
Works fine for me as I only do single & double batches & have an immersion heater for emergencies anyway.

You could perhaps scout around for a decent quality element that has the same size male thread? From memory your hole is suitable for a 1.00" BSP male thread which requires a (approx) 33mm hole

A bushing and an end cap?

I'd probably try and put the end cap (and seal) on the inside of the kettle as there would be less places for gunk to hide.

I recently turned one into a whirlpool return fitting with a 1" BSP to 1/2" BSP bush and 1" BSP oring groove lock nuts from Online Brewing supplies to seal to the pot wall with 1" silicone orings. To seal the 1/2" threaded rod I used oring grooved lock nuts and orings again.

A ss bolt, ss nut and a couple of big ass ss washers and a silicon bakeware gasket.

or get createive and turn your spent KK element into a bulk head fitting..
