Keg Post O'rings

Does anyone know if it is ok to use o'rings as supplied for watering systems on keg posts? The 12mm o'rings for the tail section of click on gardening hose fittings looks to be exactly the same size and shape. Is it a different type of rubber?

My kegs when empty sit out on the veranda exposed to light and the o'rings are degrading.

Yes lager they are the same

even cheaper if you go to Coventrys or some place similar and but "O" rings off the shelf.
I replace mine regularly as you will notice they do get nicked ( if you know what I mean )
