Its finally time I need to set up the bar, the easiest way to do the liquid side from the fridges to the taps is to use JG Fittings.

Where does everyone buy them, do we all pay top dollar to the Home Brew Shops, or source elsewhere like the internet or local trade shops? Somehow I feel around $9 for a small quick connect fitting from the local home brew shop is taking the piss.

Does anyone use the other brands / cheaper brands, i've used these in my trade for air systems on machinery and they last a long time considering they are moving and vibrating constantly under high air pressure, just not food safe (I dont think), thats all.

Cheers,
Shaunous.

Pretty sure these are the same fittings used to plumb water supplies on fridges with ice machines and water dispensers. Ask at a Reece store or other plumbing supply place.

Reece have them, but they aren't cheap unless you are a tradie.
Try swan plumbing plus. Engineering shops have stainless ones that are heaps better than the JG, take a piece of hose with you.

There are JG fittings and there are JG style fittings of varying quality. Also when you get the fittings ensure you get the correct line for them. I got my fittings and line from CB and it does get vary expensive for some small bits of plastic (line is cheap); wait until you see the price of a non return valve in JG, that Ferrari must be on order. If you get some cheap ones from some other suppliers work out the true cost when you get a leak and loose a bottle of CO2, then loose a second bottle. I've read on here about there having been issues with some of the ebay ones, and some of the KK ones. But there are also a lot of people using them, who are happy. If you get some from a decent fittings shop such as Enzed they should be good.

Always barb and clamp for the gas lines for me. Only quick connects/JG for the beer and coolant.

I'll check the other places out lads, cheers.

I got a few from here recently. Still not super cheap, but $5 is better than $9 or $7

Google Bracton they are suppliers in Brookvale Sydney..You can download a product sheet .With prices..
They will send..

I use a mixture of Industrial type fittings, real JG and cheapo ebay and Kegking fittings.

I can only seem to find MFLx8mm fittings (ie for disconnects) at KK or real JG. the KK ones needed a bit of thread tape to seal - not sure if this is an indictment on fitting or disconnect (both KK)

in other fittings I'm more than happy with the nickel plated brass industrial style fittings, they seal really well on good quality JG tubing, and are around half the price of JG (less when I got trade price)

I always lube the tube for extra protection, and try to ensure no sharp bends creating pressure on the connection, it seems they leak (cheapies more-so) when the pipe is stressed.

I get most of my stuff from these guys.

Found a great place to get JG fittings

http://www.truwater.com.au/john-guest

All types, and tube at good prices (30-50% below standard retail) and plenty of stock

Eg: 5/16" straight equal connectors, $3.95 (or $3.50 if you get a discount)

Will send or pickup in Gordon

Spoke to Ryan, let him know you found him from this forum ;)

I've been the victim of trying to save a few buck$ and buying JG type fittings and cheaper beer/gas line. As QldKev said, it wasnt cheap when I emptied a bottle or two. I bit the bullet and only bought genuine JG and Valpar ?? name?? beer line (5x8mm) trimmed the ends square, put it all together, pressurised the entire system, dunked it in a bucket of water and watched for leaks. Any bubbles and the fitting was tossed out. I had a few proper JG fittings extra and gas QD's. I then turned the gas bottle off, left it all submerged, noted the gauges and left it overnight. The next day the pressure was still in the lines and gauges were the same and only then was I happy my gas system was leak free.
* I do however have cheaper one way check valves on each disconnect line and they work AOK

Would recommend the Valspar FlexMaster II tube as well
