Hi,

I planted a Goldings rhizome at the start of September. Unfortunately I didn't have much success as the rhizome didn't appear. After some gentle digging I noticed some light brown decomposing material in the soil which led me to believe that the rhizome had rotted. The soil must have been too wet.

However, a couple of weeks ago I noticed that a small plant had appeared. At first I thought it was a weed however now I think it might be the hop after all:

This is my first attempt at growing a hop - is the plant shown in the image a hop or is it a weed?

Cheers,

Chris

I better come around and take it...it might be one of those plants that is filled with spiders , and you don't want that near your beer...

winner winner winner winner winner!!!!!

Golding is a nice hop to grow and brew with. You've done well. :super:

Golding mixes well with the dwarf variety. 1 part Golding to 2 parts dwarf. :icon_cheers:

too many laughs from this thread. :D

But I'm still jealous I don't have any hops in yet!

If it starts growing strawberries it's not a hop.

Expect a visit from the drug squad very soon.

Thanks for the feedback!

At first I thought it was a weed and nearly pulled it out.

The drug squad called and said they'd be around when it was producing flowers...

Cheers,

Chris
