Is it worth building this electric BIAB

to make it yourself, you definitely wouldn't come close to the $1000 they're asking for with that machine.

Look up QLDKev's or even one of my posts somewhere, similar in design and can be made for a fraction of the price if you are semi-handy with DIY stuff.

I use a 40L birko urn in conjunction with a braumiser controller (look up Lael's thread in the buy sell section), a kaixin pump, and it meets all my needs. Get the occassional stuck mash if you use a bit of wheat but it's uncommon.

I think alot of people would agree that if you're going to spend $1000 on a 'braumeister alternative' or glorified BIAB setup with a pump, it's worth paying the extra grand or so and just buying the real deal braumeister or going down the HERMS/RIMS route.

good luck !

Braumeister control box will be cheaper easier to program and have more features. the pot and pump well you could use a bucketOdeath.

at $1100, it would be cheaper to build a brau clone

Problem is I don't know an amp from a volt
Are there people on the forum who can assemble these things at a price?

I saw this rig while trawling YouTube and I thought it might be an affordable alternative to a Braumeister
Would it be hard to put together myself and what sort of cost am I up for?

Is it a Braumeister type setup your after or just a simple economy BIAB boiler as I thought from the topic title?

If you just want to build a simple thermostatically controlled BIAB you can probably get the parts for the original UK brueheat or electrim bin BIAB boilers posted from the UK and use a keg, bucket or large pot to assemble it yourself. Or maybe get the assembled brueheat or electrim posted.

I found some parts here but the thermostat appears to be out of stock.

After doing a bit more research, a Braumeister type set up would be the best long term solution (currently on page 12 of the 72 page thread)

Thanks for the reply

It is a little daunting at first, the PDF instructions by matho are awesome, a lot of the guys who have built these have had not electronics or soldering experience prior and have successfully followed through the project. And like most things on this forum, if there's someone nearby that has done it themselves, they are usually more than happy to lend a hand if you get stuck.

Good luck with your journey
