Ok, with my guiness tap coming on Monday, i decided i wanted to do an irish red ale. Any ideas? I thought i might do an all grain version of grumpys kilkenny.

5kg JW Pale Ale
500g Dark Crystal
Maybe Flaked Oats

Then Challenger and NBrewer to 30ibus then Finish with Goldings

Do you want to do an Irish Red, or a Creamy Ale ?
The two are quite different.
I've recently done both, with both brews coming out very good.

I can post the Promash recipes if you are interested.

Beers,
Doc

i've got your creamy ale, what is the irish red?

What does Flaked Oats add to your beer, only flavour?

Cheers :)

Oats IMO add a creamy feel to the beer and add a nut flavour.
Here is my Irish Red recipe.

Beers,
Doc

Mixed the Target and Challenger and accidently got too much target. At 60 min Target gives 18ibus, so i'll just boil it not as long.

Will this be too dark, i really want an amber colour!
