Edit: I assume you meant starch, not protein. Home brewers don't test for protein.
 
Can I have a simple breakdown as how to do this test please. I've heard of it. But not seen it done.
 
Put some iodine on the thing. If she go black, then thar be starch in the thing.

You do this on a sample of your mash, to make sure your mash has been successful.
 
I can't seem to buy Iodine locally. That is why I was wondering if Betadine has enough in it to do the job.
