Went to get my bottling fermenter today, and there's a drowned cockroach in it.

It looked about 4 times wider than the grommet hole.

I have foil jammed in all grommet holes now. B)

It wasn't drowned, it was drunk and only sleeping it off. nothing kills them except a large boot.
Turned my back on an open fermenter to grab the lid once and in less then 5sec a large spider had jumped in  it did not kill him/her also.

When I was washing bottles a couple of weeks ago a large huntsman fell out of one bottle. It was dead. Obviously had drunk itself to death.
Must have been some beer left in the bottle.
Looks like the insect/creepy crawly world has found out how good homebrew is.

Lock up those fermenters!!!

I had much the same problem johnno except with two mice. I'd left a few dregs in the bottom of the stubbie in the patio. One mouse climbed in, but couldn't get out...and another joined it.

Oh the stench

I'm glad we dont have many cockroaches down here

No big deal really.

I know someone here in Adelaide who tried "dry roaching" a beer once. :p

Nothing wrong with a bit of protein in your beer TDA. I seem to recall that Bradmcm particularly enjoyed the moment.
