Well that would be because I admittedly don't know much but am trying to learn... North Rocky Woolies has start stocking some "Ale Yeast" and "Lager Yeast" dry yeast packets. I think they're Brigalow brand, and are <$2 ea. They may be worth trying for a substitute for the yeast in a real cheap can kit.
