Wow, memory well and truly jogged here.  Now, going back over 40 years ago, just prior to my first wife leaving me for the Spanish Electrician (who subsequently gave her a miserable time, karma) in Cardiff one of the occasions that inspired a marital row was when I got pissed up on 8 of these from the local Offie, when I we had friends coming round and I was embarassingly sozzled when they got there.
Bugger, that's an "ouch" moment I'd rather have completely forgotten about.
Thanks for that aamcle.
I distinctly remember the session because of the bottle shape, and the slogan. I remember thinking "Well not bad, I'm not sure about glorious". However they did get me unexpectedly pissed so no doubt way above the strength of Carling Black Label, Harp, etc of that era so they may possibly have been the 68.
You know what, I'd tend to go for a stronger modern Kronenbourg recipe if you can find one, or maybe even a Belgian lager. I reckon it would get you close. I was a big fan of German beers - which were more Dort like in those days - and the Carlsberg was definitely a lot smoother and, well, Non-German.
