G'day blokes.

I'm just trying to psych myself up for my first full sized AG. (BIAB)

Still haven't gotten around to picking up a copy of "the bible", so have been looking at the recipe database on AHB.

I've got a selection of ingredients, so if any of you would like to have a look at what I have, and see if any of them ring a bell as to a recipe you've used for a nice beer, let me know.

JW. TRADITIONAL ALE (BIG BAG)

AND SMALL AMOUNTS OF:
JW. CARA
W. CARAPILS
W. CARAFA SPECIAL III
W. CARAAROMA
W.MELONOIDIN
S. CHOCOLATE
S. AMBER

HOPS; SIMCOE, SAAZ' TARGET, NORTHERN BREWER, E.K. GOLDINGS.
AS WELL AS POR FLOWERS, AND CLUSTER FLOWERS

YEAST ON HAND. SAFALE US-04 AND US-05.

most of these were bought for a recipe I had sitting on my kitchen bench for about two months, and which is now lost, D'OH!!

On another subject, on putting some equipment together, is there any reason I shouldn't use brass fittings?

I know everyone seems to use SS, but I have a heap of brass and copper lying around, and like to scrounge/recycle.

Cheers boys.

OK. Piss easy Aussie Ale.

95% Traditional Ale
5% Carapils

POR (10%) 6g First Wort Hop (as soon as you remove the bag and start ramping towards a boil)
POR (10%) 22g Boil 25mins
POR (10%) 8g Flameout or Cube Hopped.

US-05 at 18-20 deg.

Mash at 65deg for 60min.

60min boil

The recipe i use is for BB Ale malt, but traditional should work too.

Will be a kick ass beer, really simple.

just when you make something idiot proof they build a better idiot.

Could do an American Pale Ale, not exactly fool-proof, but you have the ingredients for it.

85% Ale Malt
10% Caramalt
5% Carapils

Simcoe @ 60 mins to 20 IBU
Simcoe @ 15 mins to 20 IBU
Simcoe @ Flameout (1 to 2g/L)

Mash at 67 deg C.

Ferment at 18 deg C with US05

How'd you end up going with this one Colonel? What was the recipe? Did your FG sort itself out?

Thanks for the recipe, Big Nath.

I finally got around to making it on the weekend, it's taken a while to get my shit together!

Tastes pretty good going into the fermenter, so I can't wait to try it in a couple of weeks.

Cheers
