I'm up in the Gold Coast Hinterland.

I thought I couldn't grow hops up here, but this pops up.

Has anyone tried this before ?

Very tempted on first viewing
I had a half hearted attempt as the head space above the pots was only about 2.5 meters. But they went well and found the opening under the eaves and up onto the roof of the green house where they were easy pickings for the possums. Hydroponics is the way forward of the future of farming, climate change, the advantage of nutrients being reused instead of being channeled into waterways climate and insect control without chemicals.
If your pots are in the open I think hops would do well as long as the pots were covered not allowing rain to dilute the nutrients. Dan on the other forum has grown them successfully with aquaponics, as long as he doesn't forget to feed the fish.
