Hi,

I have put a wheat beer brew down this morning consisting of;

Morgan's Golden Sheaf Wheat Beer
Morgan's Wheat malt

the SG reading I took after I filled the fermenter was 1032. ;)

To me that seemed a bit low since I put a "light beer" down a few weeks ago that had a starting SG of 1029

Should this reading be so low, I can imagine that with only malt as my fermentable sugar the final reading will be higher as well but I am not sure whether I did something wrong or forgot something.

Does anybody have any experience with this or can share some advice??

Cheers,

Good day
If you have put a total of 2.8 kg of liquid malt extract into into 20 to 22 litres you should have about an OG 1.036. However if the extract is not mixed thoroughly your reading can be higher or lower than it really is.

Hi Barry,

Thanks, would that cause a problem or does that fixes itself during fermentation. Can I still give it a stir now to be on the safe side?

Cheers,

No problem,it just gives a false reading, I know from experince. Leave it alone it it will be OK.
