Hi all,

Does anyone know how long defender (no rinse sanitiser from grain and grape) lasts?

I made up 3 or so liters 10 days ago to sanitise all my bits and peices and fermenter and when i was done dumped it into a bucket and covered it in glad wrap. would it still be good to use today to sanitise my bottles and the fermenter again to start my next brew? or should i make up another batch?

Thanks!

No problem. The active ingredient in Defender is phosphoric acid. At the standard dilution some acid-loving bacteria might eventually degrade it, but that would take a long time. There are also emulsifiers that should be stable. If you have doubts, try the product website.

It's not like oxygenating sanitisers like sodium percarbonate that decompose in aqueous solution.
