No I'm not being an idiot.
Could somebody please enlighten me on the simple steps to brewing your own beer, and what each ingredient does to make a beer a beer and alter the tastes.

Also, i hear alot on these forums about instructions being misleading and racking into a second fermenter, what are you on about?

I would really like my first brew to be nice, so i will probably be firing questions your way fiarly often.
Cheers

Hmm a long question. I would say to start out having a read of http://www.howtobrew.com and poke around on here. There is a wealth of info.

Essentially:

Malted barley + Water + Hops + Yeast

The best thing I ever did was to spend a few hours browsing this site. There will be some things that dont fully sink in, or questions that still will be asked, but most things you will generally get the jist of.

Get a good book too they are always handy, and when you try some brewing after your kit brews 1st, always get some advice from your good local homebrew shop
