Hi,
Yesterday, after months of finding excuses, I finally did my first AG brew (note to self - next time start earlier than 2pm in afternoon). So many unexpected time-consuming surprises, but that's a whole other post.
I had connected my washing machine motor to my 2-roller crankandstein via a v-belt & 2 pulleys & used a hex key to tighten the pulley grubscrews to the shafts. However once I turned it on & put some grain in it the pulley on the grain mill lasted all of 2 seconds before it let go of the shaft & started spinning freely. Couldn't find the right sized hex key to tighen it so attached the mill to my $15 XU1 hammer drill & got the grain crushed in about 10 mins.
To anyone else using motors & pulleys to drive your grain mill - how did you attach it?? was tightening the grub screws onto the shaft enough or did you have to do anything else to make it grip tighter?
I can post pics tonight if it helps.......
Thanks
Jez
