Hop Strainer and Bulkhead - anyone used?

Basically nothing will filter hop pellets. Use a fine bag to keep the green goo contained in the boil. Some bits will still get through but much more manageable amounts. I made a beer tonight with only 75g of hops in the boil and once I drained the hop bag I had about a fist full of crap left over, it's crazy how much they expand.

That hops strainer just looks like a s/s braided hose from Bunnings. All you do is cut of one end and pull the rubber core out of it. Lots of brewers use them.

This sounds interesting. So how do you crimp or close off the end which you've cut off?

Cut both ends off. One end slots over a length of copper/stainless pipe to supply the valve, the other end just gets folded back on itself and then put a s/s hose clamp on it.

Yep, you still need to whirlpool, and lay the strainer around the outer edge of the pot. btw I don't use one.
