I've had most of my recent dry hopped IPAs taste / smell pretty good for first few weeks after bottling, but after 4 to 6 weeks they,re really losing their aroma. Same in glass and pet bottles. Am bottle conditioning at 20c for 2weeks then storing at 6c.

Any ideas on what I can try doing to improve the longevity of the dry hop aroma? Am using up to 5 g per liter, cascade, Motueka, and s cross, so should be plenty there. Yeast is us05, is easier to post a recipe from work tomorrow than now if it helps.

Try adding more of your hops late in the boil (10min onwards) and when cooling the wort (whirlpool) as well as the dry hopping. Also, make sure you dry hop after fermentation is complete. I tend to do mine at 2degC for a week along with the crash chill.

this was the recipe, there are plenty of 5 min, 0min additions (at flameout, then immersion chiller straight on).
Dry hops added in 2 strages, first 1/2 on day 4-5, and 2nd half on day 10, bottling day 14.

hop aroma fades.... it just does.

APAs, IPAs etc are all best consumed in that 6 week period (or around about that timeframe anyway) you are talking about.

If your hop aroma wasn't starting to tail off a couple of months after hitting the bottle - there's quite a few brewers both commercial and home that would be chasing after you trying to learn your secret.

Thanks tb, sounds as if I'm looking for the holy grail.

Shame I'll have to just drink it quicker, and use more hops, damn!
