Hop addition timing

When I read the recipes here and it shows the timing of hop additions, does the time refer to the beginning or end of the boil? Eg if it says 5mins, is that 5 mins after the boil starts or 5mins before flame out?

Good pick up. Brew recipes can be a bit opaque sometimes; I guess this convention makes sense because you're not always sure how long the boil's going to take.

For a 60 min boil usually 60 is start of boil 0 is end of boil.
