The "Murray Walker, Ayrton Senna, 1989 Adelaide GP Commemorative Heated Stirplate"

"... Spin, Spin, Spin, Round, Round, Round ..."

Probably a bit too much of a mouthful though.

PS: Good luck trying to find a vid or audio clip of that epic scene. Stupid FOM and copyright.

I know right... I've tried searching for that clip so many times.. Its one of my only memories of early F1 and I want to see it to see if my memory was right (something like him spinning a few times, then gassing it and pretty much exiting the spin straight back down the straight making it look easy??)

I too couldn't find the F1 video either, but the name was a little long anyway TBH :p

My accountant got back to me and said we can't afford the licensing fees for any "A list" brewing celebrities, therefore we can't call it the Sponge or the Yob. I asked our lawyers if we could mix it up and call it the "SpongeYobYeastDance" but they said it wasn't legally distinct enough and that Sponge, Yob or Nickelodeon would hit us up for royalties. :D

So I wondered if maybe we can tackle the naming problem in a more pragmatic manner. I asked google "what is hot and spins?". After sifting through some horrifying search results about meat(?!), I finally came across a link suggesting we should call it "dryer".

*sigh* Dryer is a pretty crappy name. Not like HellFire, Stirminator or Yeast Forge. I think it's time to add a poll just as soon as I can figure out how!

Update: No need for a poll, I consulted with SWMBO and she shared my concern that "Stirminator" sounds a little too much like a male ****star name. We're propagating yeast, not peeps :D and she also liked the "yeast forge" name a lot.

I'd like to get the new membranes designed and ordered ASAP so I'm very keen to run with "Yeast Forge" with technobabble's permission. I think this really suits the future direction of our stir plates because they're not just about stirring and heating, they're about growing (forging) healthy yeast and we have plans in the works to develop the stir plates further with this in mind (see my previous topic about monitoring yeast growth here).

Sending PM to technobabble...

Yeastagator was a strong contender too of course, sorry I forgot to mention it :) both suggestions are very on-key for this line of products.

*Quickly goes off to register yeastforge.com....

I'll be rich ;)

SWMBO is demanding my xmas gift list; any chance of the Yeast Forge being released this year do you think Michael?

cheers

Hi Nick, yes we're still aiming for a release this year. I spoke to our membrane manufacturer yesterday and they said the printing is done, they are just waiting for the little orange LEDs to arrive. I've dealt with them a lot in the past and I expect they should arrive in a bit over a week from today. Hopefully ready for shipping on 7th December.

As a guide the RRP will probably be about 50% higher than the digital stir plate due to the new enclosure, extra PCB, 2 Amp wall adapter and more LEDs in the membrane but I think we'll try to offer an AHB coupon for the first batch as a "thanks for being an awesome early adopter" incentive.

Here's the new artwork for the print.

The main reason it had to change was because the temperature numbers were previously based on the plate temperature. Not they're based on the wort temperature because of the external probe. They also have the updated instructions for the "down" button to set the temperature rather than both of them.

Great deal, the unit is, at my guess, 100 times better so really, its a crazy saving :beerbang:

Fantastic work, I feel there will be many people looking to Santa for their Forging needs this year

Just caught up with this thread and excited that soon I'll be forging my own yeast on one of these beauties (will save me from the shame of harvesting it from various body parts as seems to be all the rage these days)

Only problem is that I now have That Song from the Lego movie on repeat in my head...

Hi Michael, any news on the Yeast Forge release date; do you reckon it'll be this week?
