While starting this morning's brew, I adjusted my mashmaster kettle thermometer to the tap water temperature to correlate with my digital hand held thermometer. Anyway, I was screwing the adjusting screw and then felt a pop- one of the 2 screws on the thermometer face has fallen out and is now loose inside the face.

So- is it f%&ked, or is this repairable?

Advice appreciated,

Remi

I'm sure I saw in another thread that the same thing had happened to other brewers but it still worked fine.

Who did you buy it from?? Maybe contact them. They might replace it for you.

Get in touch with who you bought it from.
This happened to mine (from Craftbrewer) in the post - was delivered with both screws loose, and the front pic spun around so that it was useless.
Ross replaced it without question.
I think there might be some QC problems in production, as this has happened to quite a few.

Actually, my thermometer was part of a kettle which I bought second hand from one of the forum members- and had served me well until today. Any ideas whether anyone repairs these?

Cheers,

hi Remi

Drop me an email [email protected], is it an older style unit or a MKII unit?
If you one screw on the front plate you should still be ok, if both have dropped its dead. Just as aside I have had some factory testing of the screw issue, it appears if you get hot gas exhaust above 300C is does affect the durablity of the loctite thread glue. You should ensure the thermometer is shielded from the gas burner exhaust, I melted silicone in a ball valve (the dry side) once at to do that your looking at a temps 200deg plus.

Thanks,

Have sent you an email....
