I'm told that some of the cones on my hop plant are starting to brown on the tips, but the basal part of the cone is not yet 'paper dry'. Would these ones be ready to harvest and dry, or should they be left till the base is a bit drier? The cones are around the size of an elongated 20 piece.

I picked mine about a week ago. Got about 50g dried in their first year

How dry were they when you picked them? Any browning?

Bit brown on the tips. The bush sounded like a Rattlesnake when I shook it

Due to work commitments, I left my picking too late and they are nearly all brown - vine ripened? :(

Got a great crop quantity wise for the first year - but I think they are wasted. Can you use the browned ones?
