Hi all,

I started a batch of the below on the 6/5/12

I took a reading today and yesterday and about a week ago and the gravity hasnt moved from 1.020. There hasnt been any signs of fermentation for over a week, and the sample tastes fruity (for want of a better expression)

The temp has been at 20c and for an ale this would be ideal.

1 can of black rock east india pale ale
1 can of black rock light liquid malt
150g Dry Wheat malt
250 Carapils
15 g Amarillo
US 05 yeast.

Yeast pitched at 18c

I posted in an earlier thread that I didnt see much airlock movement, and had a look inside to see if there was anything happening. The fermentation was occurring, I just wonder how long I need to wait to see the FG gravity hit the intended 1.010 - 1.012

Do you think it was a bad batch of yeast? and would I need to repitch some more US 05? Or is the batch doomed?

Cheers

Cans of goop are kinda designed to be "thick" as the "thinness" of the 1kg of sugar balances it all up.

When you make an all-malt extract beer it will usually finish with a high FG, 1.020 isn't out of the question at all.

It's best to sub a little bit of malt for dextrose for this reason in extract brewing.
