G'day All,

I've gone shopping and have the choice coming up to use either Northern Brewer or Magnum for a bittering addition on a few upcoming brews. Would anyone recommend either over the other? Batches coming up calling for one of the two are a Spiced Winter Ale, English Strong Ale (ESVA Clone) & Nut Brown Ale.

Cheers!

Tristan

Northern Brewer is a UK variety so there is an argument that it might be better in UK style beers.
Truth is that most of the NB'r used in the world is grown in Germany and used in Lager beer, which just goes to show that its really clean and neutral. As is Magnum or more fully Hallertauer Magnum, probably my first choice for bittering Lager.
I love both for bittering, push comes to shove and I would probably go for the one that gave me the best grams Alpha/$, or get a bit of both and have a play see which one suits best.
