NEVER USED: Unwanted Prize- Still in box, although it was out of the box for the photo lol.. NEVER USED

56L Insulated Mash Tun with Stainless Ball Valve and Stainless False Bottom
A great way to get into all grain brewing! These coolers work very well as mash tuns, as you'll notice barely any temperature loss throughout your 1hr+ mash. Internal dimensions are approximately 38cm diameter x 50cm high. External dimensions are approximately 50cm diameter x 60cm high.

Comes with our stainless steel weldless spigot and our 12" stainless steel false bottom. Also includes silicon tubing and stainless 30cm false bottom.

RRP $199.95.. looking for $160

Probably put it on eBay if no takers soon

Cheers

lol.. its in my location on the left  :chug:

Keg King...looks pretty schmick.. if it was 72L id keep it

I've got a 70L pot which I BIAB at the moment, from my limited 3V knowledge a 56L mash tun would be an ideal match for a 70L kettle yeah? As in a 56L mash tun could output double or triple standard gravity (~1.050) batches?

Yes.. you are correct.. I have a 72L mash tun and I only ever fill it about 1/2 way for double batches .. so this would be fine. I fing you only need about 1/2 to 3/4 the size for a mashtun vs kettle.. so 72L kettle then you get a 56L Mashtun (in my excellent experience) lol.. and the insulation is a huge bonus for maintaining constant mash temps which makes a HUGE difference in producing quality beer. Would have been great to get access to something like this when I build my 4v system. Pretty sure a double batch russian would easily work in this due to not having much dead space at the bottom but of course I have never used it and way cheaper than stainless! My system has about 10L dead space and this mashtun has about 500ml ..lol huge advantage to get more grain in.

Sorry guys, a bit OT, but what's the biggest batch size you could get out of a 50L mash tun and a 58L kettle?

Hmm, so tempted. I will mostly brew single or double batches, rarely triples. So it seems maybe this could be a bit oversized and I'd be better with a 40L mash tun, or is my logic wrong because it's an esky the dead space above the mash has less effect? Suppose I could use the foil trick (yet to try it on my BIAB rig)

58 L ... it is dependant on the kettle in that situation.. the mash tun can push out more than the kette size regardless of the beer.

up to you mate but I would ALWAYS upsize rather than downsize then you are never limited. I ended up buying a 100L esky 4 months back to do huge brews... so my philosophy is never downsize and I am sure others would agree. The space you dont use has no impact on the beer.. remember it is fully insulated..

good luck with your decision but if you do buy it id love to get a beer from it at some point !!

You'd want more than 40 to do higher grav doubles.

Thanks. It is a 58L Keggle from Keg King if that matters.

I'm currently using it for BIAB but am in the process of upgrading to a 3V,so am working out what I need from the HLT, MT etc.
I was looking at these insulated MT's, but looks like I'd require a bigger kettle to make it worth while.

Lol this has turned into a setup discussion rather than a 4 sale.. once again it is FOR SALE .. lol
