Hi guys,

I have been brewing for roughly 8 months and have been getting better with each brew. Unfortunately I think I have got an infected beer as I only realised 3 days in, that the lid on my fermenter was not screwed on correctly. It is 5 days now and I had a taste wile checking the S.G.
And it is messed up!!

It’s the first time I have failed, I was just wondering if there was some how I could save it or just cut my losses.

Cheers

It's been a while and no responses - how did you go with it?

Would a FV lid not screwed on properly cause a problem - unless it is open to the room, it should still keep out the nasties.

Having the lid not screwed down properly during fermentation should not cause a problem, as the beer is still producing and expelling cO2.
Don't necessarily go by the taste of fermenting beer, it's not necessarily great tasting.
Even after fermentation and at bottling or kegging, the beer is still green and needs more time to mature.
What exactly are you tasting to make you think it is "messed up"?
