Well, I've got a fresh bag of Maris Otter on the way, a bag of Centennial hops, and I've never used either, so I thought I'd do a SMaSH to get a feel for both of them. The recipe I've come up with is below. Ideally I'd use something neutral like US05, but won't be able to get any before I brew, so I'm going to harvest some WLP001 that's currently munching it's way through an APA I've got fermenting. Any advice on the recipe, or any SmaSH tips and tricks in general would be greatly appreciated.

Centennial SMaSH (American Pale Ale)
Original Gravity (OG): 1.044 (°P): 11.0
Final Gravity (FG): 1.011 (°P): 2.8
Alcohol (ABV): 4.32 %
Colour (SRM): 5.5 (EBC): 10.8
Bitterness (IBU): 27.3 (Average - No Chill Adjusted)
100% Maris Otter Malt
0.5 g/L Centennial (9.7% Alpha) @ 60 Minutes (Boil)
0.5 g/L Centennial (9.7% Alpha) @ 10 Minutes (Boil)
0.5 g/L Centennial (9.7% Alpha) @ 0 Minutes (Boil)
1 g/L Centennial (9.7% Alpha) @ 4 Days (Dry Hop)

Single step Infusion at 67°C for 60 Minutes. Boil for 60 Minutes
Fermented at 18°C with WLP001 - California Ale

Will be tasty. Looks good to me already, would lift the IBU's to the other side of 30 and enjoy!

MO + Centennial = win!

Yup, one of my favourite brews (I've done it a few times now) is a MO + Centennial SMaSH. I aim for OG 1.036 and 30 IBU and use plenty of late hops - about 1 g/L at 15 min and 1.3 g/L at 0 min. I don't bother dry hopping with the large amount after flame out.

I use WYeast1056. I'm pretty sure that's the same as WLP001 so yours looks pretty similar to what I do. It's a lovely beer.

EDIT: I forgot to write my tip. If you can, CC it as low as you can go (without freezing) for a few days or so as it not only clears the beer but seems to mellow the flavours a little (in a good way) and make it a nice, smooth, easy drinking session beer. It's still good without the CC but has a little sharper hop edge and doesn't seem to complement the malt as well.

Centennial is my current favourite hop. I have done a SMASH with it and GP and it went nicely. I would also avoid dry hopping with it as it will be grassy and then go vegetal from my experiences with it.

I would bump the IBUs over 30 also.

For me it's Cascade > JUST over Amarillo > JUST over Centennial.

Any of those hops and I am a happy chappy!!!

MO + Amarillo is my fav at present, but looks good - as others have posted bump the IBU's and you will have a winner.

I have another recipe using equal MO and Pale malt + a little bit of wheat - makes a nice beer with any of your fav hops

Thanks for the advice all. I might move the dry hops to the flameout addition. This bumps it up to 37.5 IBU according to BrewMate.

Figure I'd ask in here instead of starting another SMaSH thread.

I was thinking of throwing cascade at around 40-45 IBU into a 1.057 all Vienna wort splitting 70% - 30% of the IBU between boil-late and fermenting with US05.. Mashing at around 66

Sound alright?

Or I could add some simcoe into the mix.. Or citra?

Only one answer to that Kurt... Hell yeah!!

My tastes do prefer a more complex hop profile than a smash can (to date) provide

Did a vienna smash earlier this year with simcoe, turned out awesome...

Next cab off the rank for me is a Munich II smash, either with chinook, citra or first gold. Someone help me decide hahaha

Looks like I have my next brew planned! Might throw a bit of both simcoe and citra in at the end of the boil and see what I get! The old man is hanging for a new brew while my lagers condition haha

Gonna be hoppy or malty?

I'll go for about 35 IBU wth maybe half from late additions, so considering the munich II, probably balanced or slightly hoppy.
