Hey everyone,

Was a member on the forum a few years ago. I have returned to brewing after a couple of years break. Pretty excited about it. Just playing around with some kits and bits at the moment. Hopefully making some good beer! Put this Best Bitter recipe down weekend before last. Will probably be bottling on Friday.

Happy Rock Best Bitter

250g cracked Caraaroma - steeped for 30 minutes at 70 degrees
1.7kg Coopers Sparkling Ale Kit
1.0kg Muntons LDME
30g East Kent Goldings 4.3% 20 minutes
30g Styrian Goldings 5.2% 0 minutes

Danstar Windsor dry yeast

Fermented at 20 degrees

Nice one Happyrock,

let us know how it turns out, 'tis always good to note a new extract recipe, as haven't done one here for a while, just K&K.

Cheers.

Thanks Ivan. Will post some pictures when the beer is ready.

This beer has been conditioning for about a month now. Pretty happy with how it turned out Its a nice easy drinker. Quite fruity with some nice hop character. The hops were a bit too much at first but it has settles down into a tasty pale ale. Really lacks the malt character of a best bitter though. Might have to add a little more specialty grains to get a more prominent malt character. Overall pretty stoked with how this beer turned out. Its great to be brewing again!

Looking good. Nice head on it, does it stay through the glass?

Syl,
It's carbonated English ale style. It pours a nice thick head but it fades quickly because of the low carbonation. Still retains a bit though. Nice lacing in the glass.
