Does anyone know a source in Sydney for Ferrules and Hanger bolts?

I haven't been able to find them at my local hardware store.

I'm wanting to make some of my own tap handles.

useless idea for the day, what about a wood turning supply shop or something similar. my uncle is into wood working etc and always has some weird bits kicking around the joint ... *bad pun sorry* or they might know of a place to get them.

I feel a GMK post coming up ;)

I have access to a wood lathe. Just need the other bits.

As far as the second pic Doc
Small coach bolt cut off and a thread run down on it , that's easy

the joys of having access to a (metal)lathe

cheers

Ok - bunnigs sell - at least in canberra sell the right female thread with the prongs that attach into the wood.

Cant remember at the mo exactly waht it is called.
But note taht the wood turned handle has to have a large diameter to fit.
A copper ring 1 inch ferrule helps to stop the wood from splitting.

Turned handles taht fit this allready.

batz - no sales here - just good advice...

They are used a lot in wooden furniture Doc so maybe try someone who makes furniture. Other than that I am sure the big hardware stores should have them.

Doc, morebeer sell these items pretty cheaply (guessing that's where you got the photos from). They would fit in a small envelope and cost bugger all to post. FWIW a aeration stone and filter would fit too ;), did you want to add these to the arangement if it goes ahead?

I was thinking about making some tap handles too. I'd love to make some like the st. pats ones. Damn that $300 order limit.

Cheers, Justin

I've turned the wooden handles on a lathe.
I've got the right sized hanger bolts.
Still trying to find the ferrules. Have been to five hardware stores of varying sizes without any success.
Anyone know a good furniture shop or similar in Sydney that would be worth a try ?

I don't know where you live, but at drummoyne there is a place called Mr Stainless that may be able to help you. They may deal in fittings like this, but primarily in stainless steel. Best to probably call them.

Mr Stainless
144 Victoria Rd, Drummoyne

The only place near me where i could get the 1/2 inch plus washers for AG setup!!

Thanks Will.
Will give them a call tomorrow.
Fingers crossed.

have i got a ferrule for you

see attached image

we affectionately call this the "butt plug"

it is designed to be removed from the concrete

not sure if you can use it but it may be a good talking point at the bar

Looks like a tap handle in itself.
That would be an interesting talking point

Had the car today so did a detour on the way home and stopped by Mr Stainless. No joy :(

Beers,
Doc (who is still on the hunt for ferrules)

Not sure exactly what type of ferrules you need but there must be a Hilti or Ramset near you they have every concievable construction fitting but may be in bulk only, or try a specialist wall and cieling supplier.
