Has anyone used a domestic bench top ice maker as a water/glycol chiller. (or looked into it at all)
I'm currently using an ice bath with pond pump and water jacket to control temperatures during fermentation. (With a fair bit of insulation around the water jacket) I estimate currently with ambient temps around 25C I can maintain 12C with about 4-6 kgs of ice a day.
The ice makers say they can produce 20kg/24hr period. which from a back of the envelope calculation looks promising...
I figure they are more efficient that the small (40l) bar fridges?
Found a video on youtube with a guy using one for laser cooling. but temp range is a bit higher.
