Greetings Y'all,

I really want to make a beer with rice syrup.

I have made a few cans with BE1 & BE2 etc. Then a tried my hand at a couple of can/partials with added hops.

For my next adventure in beer I am looking to try something different (For Me). Here is the recipe.
Looking at making an easy drinking, high alc beer.

1.5kg Light Liquid Malt Extract
1 kg Light Dry Malt Extract
0.5 Rice Syrup
20g Amarillo @ 60mins
10g Amarillo @ 20mins
10g Cascade @ 20mins
20g Cascade @ 5mins
Irish moss @ 15mins

s-23 yeast.

I would like to make a strongish beer out of this one. I have extra dex, extra rice syrup, BE1 & 2 to bump up the OG if needed. I'm looking to get a OG of 1.065 or so.

Have any of you guys made a brew like this and if so how did it turn out?
Have I got enough hops in the brew?
I'm only new to brewing but I'm really keen to experiment and get away from kits.

If anyone has any advice I'm all ears.

Cheers,

I cant pick anything wrong with your recipe, but be prepared to be bombarded with people telling you to throw 200+grams of hops in.

Get yourself a copy of BREWMATE, do a google search...free download, excellent for playing with recipes.

There is only one way to learn, do it....go on, do it. :icon_cheers:

Cheers for the reply.

Good to know you think I'm on the right track.

220g of hops sounds interesting.

I threw 75g combined of Fuggles, Willamette and Goldings in a ESB last weekend and I reckon that tasted strong when I tasted the wort.

I'm sure my taste will develop though.
