Hi Guys,

I'm planning on putting down an extract brew tomorrow and wanted a style somewhere between a Vale IPA and a Bierhaus Double Hopped IPA. Here's what I was thinking:

2 x Coopers Light Malt Extract
250g Dex
250g Light Crystal

5 ltr boil
30g Challenger @ 45
20g Challenger @ 35
10g Citra @ 10

Dry Hopped 40g Citra & 20g Galaxy
Safale US-05

Any suggestions?

How many litres in your FV? With only 20 you're looking at a brew a little over 5% with bottle conditioning, but with only 26 IBU's, so nowhere near the range of an IPA. You should up the boil to 60 minutes and do your first Challenger addition at the start, of say 50 grams. That will see you end up with an IBU of closer to 40 with 20 litres in the FV.

Or even better, replace the Challenger with a bigger bittering hop, like Warrior. Then you could get away with 25 grams @ 60 minutes, leaving the rest as is, and get 40 IBU's.

Just remember to add only ~400 grams of the DME to your 5 litre boil, so your gravity is around 1.040 when you add your hops...add the rest of the DME at flameout.
