Hi There,

Picked up a bavarian wheat from local HBS. As I have never done a wheat beer before, I have a couple of questions to ask.

1. What temperature should I keep the brew at?

2. The 3kg kit was supplied with K-97 Wheat/Ale Yeast. Am I better off using the supplied yeast, or one of the four liquid ale yeast that I have. I have:

WLP013 London Ale
WLP022 Essex Ale
WLP028 Edinburgh Ale
WLP802 Czech Budejovice Lager

Cheers,
Jase

Well i certainly won't give any advice. I did this kit and it was without a doubt the worst beer i have ever done (and the only one i have ever thrown out).

jase,i have done a wheat beer before and love it ,as a base go with the kit yeast, and aim for 20/22 degrees. the kit yeast you mentioned is i reckon good enough for the job and i have not had any prob,s with it in the past. let us know how it turns out.cheers..

The K97 is good or use the lager yeast.

i dry hopped mine with 25gms of Saaz in the secondary for 4 weeks.

Hope this helps

Great Kit & it comes with an excellent yeast. try keep the temp at the low end of the recommended range, if it says 18-24 degrees then aim at the 18.
cheers
Gerard
