Cheers!
Absolute bargain so I nabbed one.
Turned up today, excellent glass!!I ordered some Friday night, still haven't got them... To Latrobe Valley..
I don't really know what it is, or how it works, but my hydrometer is 4 points out and the little bottle you fill up is cracking, so I got one tooCan't afford not to! I dont know how shops justify $50+ for them

Scored myself some stainless winemaking drums recently. Four of them have lids/seals etc, the fifth might make a nice candidate for a HLT. $110 for the lot.
I bought them sight unseen as I had a feeling it was a steal, and someone else would get to them first. They were used for small batch winemaking. Anyone know what modifications I'll need to make to use them as fermenters? Installing a beer post and diptube, I assume

The key is to bring it into the brewery under the cover of darkness. That way, when she notices it, she assumes it was already there. Flawless method!mtb how in the heck are you getting these past the missus? As I recall you were recently frightened over some stainless benches.
Same approach I have, or the other one "You wouldn't believe what a guy at work was getting rid of"The key is to bring it into the brewery under the cover of darkness. That way, when she notices it, she assumes it was already there. Flawless method!

that's a hell of a hot side
Great idea. I'll get onto that today I think.Nahh no diptubes - just get a non-weld bulkhead fitting and build stands, so the outlet can be on the centre of the base.
If you're fermenting this large though, temperature control becomes a bigger issue. Also, that's a hell of a hot side to produce batches that big!
There are many panic room ideas on the Doomsday Preppers site.Great idea. I'll get onto that today I think.
Grott - I'm still kicking myself that I didn't buy the stainless bench. I doubt I'll find another that suited for a brewery in Canberra for a very long time, for the price. And if I spruce up the brewery enough, I can install a panic room for when SWMBO decides to research how much it's all *actually* worth, and my standard "Gumtree bargain" excuse doesn't save me.

Found this cheap alternative to STC.
Very Cheap at only $2.35
Does heating or cooling but not both at same time - so not ideal for fridge/ferment controlling but might be good for HEX controller.
Handles 10amp

Edit - only 12v - so might not work after all.
