They were definitely used in Adelaide during the mid to late 70's, possibly later.

I can remember them from the bar at Flinders Uni.

Possibly four distinct bids. Buyer kept increasing max bid to make sure they got it. The bid shown wouldn't increase because they already hold the max bid.
