The best long weekend of the year is approaching....
Whats everyone brewing?

I'll be giving the new brew rig a run after a 3 month rebuilding phase with an LCPA clone.
New massive brewpot went from 21L to 50L in size- No more boilovers
Nice big mash tun went from 15L to a 36L round esky
High pressure NASA burner- Beats the stove any day
Counter Flow Chiller- No more laundry tub of ice and endless waiting.
Fermenting fridge- 4C-25C range

Dry run this weekend, or should that be "wet" run :p

See another thread,

A belated APA. Was supposed to brew it Monday which was labour day in Melbourne. Unfortunately good old unpredictable Melbourne is going through it's usual Indian Summer and it got to 34c.

So the APA is slated in for Good Friday. Good time to make a beer. Helps we Catholics forget our meat cravings.

I'm planning on two Easter brews, an Extra Stout and a Czech style Pilsner.

Shawn.

I'm putting down my 4th AG - a Black Horse ale... :chug:

Cranknstein CGM-2D was delivered yesterday, that will be getting a work out :).

My "Mash Paddle" entrie...
An Iconoclastic interpretation of the Aussie Ale ;)

Asher for now

An AG Hoegaarden clone. Hopefully the cool change coming through Sydney tonight will result in perfect fermentation temps :chug:

Too right about the weather last weekend Warren. I was down to about 24 Grolschies and am now down to about half that. I have been waiting for the weather to cool for ages. Its going to be high 20's this weekend as well.
Emergency brew this weekend:English style pale ale.
Easter weekend:At least 2 more brews will go on. Not sure what yet.
Got to get the stocks up. :chug:

cheers

Unfortunately my olds are coming over to Oz to visit and will be staying with us over Easter. This will probably put pay to my brewing plans.
I brewed last weekend, and plan to squeeze another in this weekend (if the weather permits as I brew outside).
I need to get some serious brewing in to get the stocks up. Two weeks ago I had five full fermenters, but then had three kegs run dry in a matter of days.
I'll be filling another keg tonight which will only leave two brews in fermenters :(
Upcoming beers planned are an Oktoberfest, Saison and a Brown Ale.

Beers,
Doc

Hopefully Irish red i have Irish neighbours that love it. Will have to sneek another in some time stocks getting low.

Stagger

:super:

Doc,
Would be good if you could post your Oktoberfest recipe. As its March or "Marzen", i'll be looking to put one down shortly as well.

Hey Tim,

It is a dark Oktoberfest. It is beautiful. A number of guys have tasted it and brewed it, and all think it is exceptional.
It used to be in the Recipes section, but as that is down at the moment, here is the recipe.

Beers,
Doc

Know what you mean Johnno. Stocks seem to decline faster than they grow at my place. :chug:

I've set myself a target to have six full kegs within the next month or so. I've got plenty of spare days coming up (for a change).

All I've got left to drink is a slab of Amsterdam Mariner and some Ginger beer that I made earlier. That's nearly gone too. :(

Plan is to have 40 litres of American Brown Ale (just kegged), ditto American Pale Ale (Good Fri.) and also 40 litres of a Cream Ale or Stout. (2nd week school hols.) Haven't made up my mind yet. With 60 litres of beer that will give me time to make some modifications to various bits of equipment.

After that I want to have a crack at Doc's Marzen. Looks nice and I've never made one before. :super:

Thanks for the recipe Doc. Looks the goods. :beerbang:

I've stashed it a way with my to-do files. About time I cranked out a Marzen. After 8+ years of brewing the closest I've gotten is a Helles.

Just one question Doc. Does it turn out OK with local malts ?? Thought you would have been a little more teutonic in your approach?

All that said I think that local malts are great. Some of my better beers have been made with JW malts.

Yep, it turns out brilliantly. The awards and feedback I get on this beer say so anyway. I'd like to brew it one day with all German malts, but I'm buying bulk local base malts these days. Maybe when the wife goes back to work I'll be able to buy bulk European malts

Beers,
Doc

Thanks Doc,
I will definetely give this one a go, but like Warren i'll substitute for local malts. I think i might use a little less Munich (I only have 1.7kg in stock) and try a small decoction from the main mash.

Only brewing I'll be doing this Easter long weekend is with my daughter, setting up the traditional Ginger Beer plant. Something both of us are really looking forward to. :super:

All the best to everyone else homebrewing like crazy

I'm going to be brewing a nice (hopefully) english pale ale. First brew on my new brewery, on good friday.
