As the topic suggests...how should packets of dry yeast be stored?

I imagine in the fridge would be best and freezer would be too cold?

Searched, but no luck

Thanks slugger :)

Until now I've never kept extra yeast, just used it as I bought it...but today I bought too much :chug:

It's a good idea to always keep a few packs in the fridge, just incase one doesn't start up. Would be a bummer if you needed yeast on a sunday and couldn't find a HBS open.

Even though I use liquid yeasts I always have a pack of safale and saflager in the fridge JIC.

Cheers!

Yep, if you are not going to use the yeast soonish, pop it in the fridge.

Bear in mind that fridges can have all sorts of bugs growing in them. So pop your yeast sachets in a jar or plastic bag to keep the spores from the outside of the pack.

Many yeasts don't have dates on them, so use a fine felt tip to record what date they were purchased.

Good point and thanks...the packets have now been sealed in a plastic zip-lock sandwich bag :)
