I have a can recepie kit going at the moment for an IPA . was a week yesterday and did a reading and its getting close to done.1014 when I'd exepct it to get down to 1010ish

tatsed the sampe and it tasted good but a bit light on the hops ,so thinking of dry hoppign which I havent done before . the kit came with cascade and simcoe which I steeped and added with the yeast

If I get some cascade pellets do I just chuck em in to the fermenter for a few days before I cold crash ?can I dry hop at this stage ?

Yes you can just drop some hop pellets in (gently). They should drop out when you cold crash (best to take temp down a few degrees a day to avoid yeast stress).

Thanks Barry

was doing some googling and itslooks like 25g might be a good starting place ?

Yes 25 grams would give you a good punch of aroma and flavour.

I did an ipa and dry hopped with 25g of cascade last brew I did. That was in a 23 litre brew.
It was a nice taste for my liking. Next brew I might push it a bit further and give it 35g and see the difference.
I got a hop bag from my local brew shop. Just added the hops in the bag tied it off and dropped it briefly in a cup of boiled water. Pulled it out and into the fermenter. I didn't pour the water in. Next time I might add a stainless nut or something to the bag to weigh it down a bit. The hops tends to float around a bit and I figured I'd prefer it fully immersed. I think some people just add them neat without a bag but you might end up with a few floaties here or there? I added mine after the fermentation was finished and left it do its work for about three days before bottling. Adds a whole new taste to your brews.

got my hops today. did a reading last night and think the beer has finsihed at 1011 roughly, so if its the same tonight will figure its done

should I put the hops in for a couple days then cold crash or can you hop and crash it at the same time ?

Latest thinking is to keep at normal temp for a couple of days at least then cold crash.
