Ive been looking at http://aussiehomebrewer.com/recipe/507-docs-yardglass-session-lite/ and wondering if I could brew this recipe (and other double batches) in the 30l Grainfather. My intention is to top up the fermentor after boil to achieve the 40l.
Are there any downsides to this? Anything that I would need to take into consideration?
I have only done a couple brews in the Grainfather (my only experience with all grain) and would appreciate all the help I can get.

I like you logic and would also like to know if this will work well without to much change in the overall flavour.

I use the gf to mash for double batches then transfer to my kettle and dilute the over gravity wort preboil. Produces a good mid or mild. Don't know about diluting into fermenter as it's going to make hop additions tricky to get right.
