Im not in contract with Telstra anymore & looking at changing ISProviders. Who runs dodo & how bad are they? There's some pretty bad reviews out there. Telstra $130.00 month, dodo half price.

Have a look at TPG. They've always been good for me at a hell of a lot less than $130. That's across four different locations and accounts. I've had Telstra and Optus and TPG compares well, but I haven't had DODO. IIRC TPG doesn't do cable though.

I am with Optus, they are advertising $90 unlimited broadband all local calls, calls to mobiles, 1300 numbers free, got them down to $80. Been with them about three years now, don't know if that made a difference but no harm in haggling.

I've used dodo, no issues. Most complaints from them revolve around offshore support and thick accents. I believe they contract Telstra for connections and the like anyway so timing on those kinds of things doesn't change.
Only thing to be wary of is make sure you understand the fine print. Not sure if dodo are guilty of it, but some mobs require calls on advance to cancel a plan else you get automatically renewed for a fixed term.

My tpg is 60 per month, no automatic renewal, unlimited data, no phone usage (we use mobiles for calls). 69 gets phone useage as well.
While I've found internet here a bit how's your father, I've been on nbn, accessed through a mobile for most of it. Last place was decent, accessing with pc device is also much better.
Customer service has been fine.

Been with dodo for many years, always had pretty good response to problems. Internet is slow but I'm a fair way from the exchange and telstra have oversold the adsl2 so much ( speeds slower than dial up at times ) that I got rid of it and went back to adsl, which is @ the same speed, sometimes faster.I can't understand how telstra gets away with it, I mean if you went to the servo and paid for 80l of fuel and then got 60l because they didn't have enough for everyone and had to ration it out there would be an absolute stink. **** telstra, I'll never directly get anything from them.

optus/iinet are offering free netflix for 6 months...plus tpg is in the process of buying iinet..optus have there own cable network,NBN is owned by the goverment and the rest uses telstra's cooper network

also do a search http://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband
Ohh don't say that. I get incredible service from iinet and got the worst service from tpg. If they take it over they will screw it up for sure.

Spintel are also good if you can get them in your area. $55 for unlimited internet and line rental.

I work for these guys

We are Based in Grafton

My advice is if you can get NBN Fixed Wireless go for it.

NOTE: Plenty of affiliation. They pay my wages every week.

My advice would be , check your location and availability. I'm in lake Mac and the ONLY fixed line provider I can get is telstra. I get cold calls from all, who offer the world and when I ask to confirm their ability to provide they fall flat. Can't wait for the nbn, (in progress)

As are Internode.

Internode are awesome. I've been with TPG before, but much prefer Internode. $60 a month is what we pay.

Other way round, I think. iiNet are the parent company.
your probably right but doesn't matter much.
ive also go my mobile with them as they offered twice the data and half the price. I'm paying 30 bucks a month for 2gb plan

TPG is the dominant one. They have been slowly buying up other ISP's over the years.

iiNet are doing the same.

A merger betwen iiNet & TPG will put them just behind Telstra. If I was Telstra I would be worried.

Poor old Optus will just be there making up the numbers, alhough they do have all the satellite market

The SINGLE BIGGEST problem with the Australian telecomunications market is the fact that nearly all the cables end up in Telstra buildings.

Now have a think about that for a minute

FYI, TPG are all set to acquire iiNet. iiNet acquired internode and westnet. TPG typically oversubscribe, but are generally fine unless you need support. Dodo have won worst customer service for the last 2 or 3 years. NBN is a no brainer, if it's an option. If it's not, cable might be a better option; particularly cable 3 at 100mbit speeds. If thaya not an option, choose carefully. ADSL degrades quickly over distance, ADSL2+ more so. ADSL can achieve up to 8mbit, but os typically more expensive than the faster ADSL2+.

Basically, internet is ****** in Australia, and not about to get much better. Nonetheless, I'd avoid dodo like the plague, unless all you intend to do is check email and AHB. When and if you're online.

Just remember that us little guys will go the extra mile to sort things out

NOTE. I work for an independent ISP. www,ant.com.au
