I was being lazy and wanted to brew today without a starter prepared. I relied on my beersmith inventory and have now started a brew and realised that I don't have the yeast stock I wanted.

I just realised that I only have 1 pack of 1098 (I know it's not perfect for IPA but have heard it does well) and all I have otherwise is a pack of US05.

Which would go better in todays brew? Boil starts in about an hour...

it's going to be a weak start, I will aerate as much as possible, I guess I can't do much now....

NFI about no-chill... I don't think I have cubes of the right size...

Just about to smack that bitch! (pack)

Being realistic, you may struggle to have enough yeast to complete a proper ferment with that starting gravity. You could try pitching the 1098 and the US05. Hopefully you will get a few esters from the 1098.

You don't want to be kicking yourself in a week when you have a stalled ferment, mate.

realistically I have never run into this scenario before and have not really considered pitching both because I thought the US05 would rape the 1098 and I would lose those english notes. Perhaps if it stalls I could pitch the US05 later on...

Pitch 1098, leave 24 hours, do a double drop tomorrow...all good.
