Hey all,

Just a quick one - got a stainless steel pick up tube for my boil kettle except it's a bit too big. I want to cut it down a bit. Just went through around 5 hacksaw blades and hardly made a nick in it. Any suggestions for tools that might work? Can you get stainless steel cutting blades for circular saws? I might pick one of those up if that's an option.

Cheers

Actually, I've got a dremel so perhaps there's a tool for my dremel that might do the trick.

take it down to your local mechanic, they should have a grinder and just chop it off in a couple of seconds.

You could probably even pop down to a building site and the boys would just chop it off for you.

Dremel reinforced cutting wheels will so the job, but they're hellish expensive. A 10 buck pipe cutter from Bunnings will work just as well and will do about 50 cuts on stainless tube before you have to chuck it.

My little 15yr old pipe cutter works a treat on stainless pipe. Just have to make small adjustments on the wheel and it cuts through in no time.

Angle grinder with stainless cutoff disc would be the quickest and easiest way in my opinion.

I don't know what your doing there, or perhaps the quality of your hacksaw blades but, you should be able to hacksaw a bit off with ease.
