I was wondering if anyone has had success in reculturing the yeast from a bottle/s of Schneider Weisse.
I notice that there is a fair amount of the yeast in the bottle and if would impart the same flavour profile as the original if recultured.
I can vaguely remember somewhere that there may have been suggestions that the bottling strain was in fact a lager yeast. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Regards,
Lindsay.

bconnery,
How quick and good was your response.
I'm attacking this arvo when I have a beer and use the dregs. I know that the beer would probably taste better with the dregs....but one must suffer.

Lindsay.

sorry to chime in late - but yes, I've done it a few times. works well

Schneider uses the same yeast for main fermentation as bottling - one of the few commercial breweries that do. confirmed from a very reliable source.
