I'm getting sick of swapping lids around to solve leaky relief valves and as I'm increasing inventory levels it's not going to be possible, so I need to solve the problem ones..

I have a few 'flip' ones and a few 'pull-ring' ones.

the flip tops seem to be worse than the pull-rings but I reckon i've got a couple of each to fix..

are there easy o-rings or seals to replace on them?

these look good, anyone used them? or see a reason why-not? (apart from cost - which is quite high on my agenda)

has anyone gone abstract and utilised something like this or these?

Exactly the same as I linked to, but dearer. $6.60 for postage from Melbourne?? - Dreamin
Postage couldn't be worth more than $1.50.

I do stand to be corrected as I am not home at the moment to check but.....aren't the hole sizes different for the the "flip" type PRV's than for the "ring pull" types.
I had a "flip" type one on one of my kegs and it leaked due to a plastic nut that holds it in place, being cracked.

Cheers

I've got both varieties of relief valves so I feel your pain. One of my flip versions carked it a while back and I found it easier just to buy a new lid that comes with a new pull relief valve on it. I'll eventually change the others over too.
Not sure why, but the kegs i have must of went through hell and back in their previuos life as the lids are fairly beat up so it was a no brainer just to change lids. Some lids are fairly reasonably priced too when shopping around.

Probably the easiest fix for those grey plastic flip type valves because i don't know of a replacement for that type.

Cheers

thanks guys, yep i'll most likely go the replacements for the ring-pulls, when i get a chance to do a search for decent postage/local outlets.

the flip top ones are dammned close to 1/4 BSP but not, so I'm hoping they're 1/4NPT and I reckon the compressor reliefs would be npt... it may be worth the $5.08 gamble.

Connor Breware have a couple of kits that might be good

PRV $6: http://connorbreware.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=108

Cornie service kit $25: http://connorbreware.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=111

New lid with new PRV $15: http://connorbreware.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=96

I'll be purchasing 2 new lids and a couple of service kits as I have a couple of kegs I have not used yet due to crappy PRV's and one has a missing poppet valve. And 2 of my kegs the lids don't seal all that well due to fatigue in the arms.

$11 shipping to Brisbane.

I've recently purchased three new stainless steel keg king kegs with ring pull relief valves. I found one was leaking the first time I used it when checking carbonation. (LHBS replaced lid for me) and now another is leaking ,and one is super sensitive.

I know they need to be in tight, but are they all fickle, do I need to do something else? Or have I just scored a bad batch?

( We wont go into one of my lids locking mechanism being a mouse trap)

if they're ring pulls, i find they need a good twist and tighten from time to time and a bit of lube on the o-rings

nice pic 3 sheets, LOVE Breaking Bad.

Thanks. I guess the twisting an turning falls under fiddly. A bit disappointing on new gear. I'll fiddle again today to see if I can stop the minute leak as I need to fill it with beer in the next few days.

Breaking Bad rocks, sadly coming to an end.
