just tried the immersion chiller links in the faq section but they wont load.

where do you guys get your copper pipe for your DIY chillers?
what size?
what length roughly?

i might whip one up on the weekend

cheers

Cheapest I have come across is your local plunbing supply, a lot cheaper than Bunnings ect.

Or refridgeration guys. Supposedly cheaper than plumbing supply places but I haven't got any quotes.

I use and recommend 3/8" copper, but there are many 1/2" chillers out there. At a guess I'd say 10m to be safe, others may have different opinions on length. If I was to build again tomorrow I'd use that much.

Cheers, JD

Try your local scrap dealer - Much cheaper than your plumbing supply shops - if they have any.

Mine would have set me back $10 if he had of charged me... :)

Down here in melbourne, the local markets often sell NEW rolls of copper. I picked up 18m of 3/8" for $40. Bunnings price was $ 119 from memory.

That was laverton markets for anyone whos interested.

My 18 metre 1/2 inch cost ~75 bucks from Reece plumbing. Was a few years ago though

Last time I bought a role of 3/8 was from refrigeration parts victoria for less than $50. Much cheaper than plumbing joints.
