Is the yeast you buy at the LHBS in packets the same yeast they use in the commercial bottled beer?
 
i was wondering that aswell. But if it was, why would people bother to reculture it?

Yes, and why would Whitelabs sell it (though they don't anymore). Yet Coopers put it in their kits (of particularly relevant note, the Original Paley kit) and you'd assume it was an easy swap. Ah well... looks like I'll have to go down and pick up a six of Coopers...

Now to check that thread...
 
The dried yeast in coopers sachets is not the yeast they use in the brewery.
