Below what temperature does the standard yeast in a coopers lager stop fermenting? A lager is meant to be fermented around 10C, but I've been told the yeast they provide with the tin is a regular ale yeast.

The Coopers Lager kit yeast is the same strain as pretty much all of the Coopers kits, and yes, it is an ale yeast.
I haven't used it for a while. From memory I never took it below 20C.

just looking at the coopers instructions, it says the bavarian lager should be fermented between 13 & 21' C. i guess the average hb'er could manage 15-20 without too much effort especially during winter.

you will get a better result if you can use a real (liquid) lager yeast in a fermenting fridge.

cheers
