I'm going to knock up a quick Coopers English Bitter to counter an impending beer drought.

Anyone got a good recipe with this can?

I've only used this kit a couple of time but IMO it benefits from a good liquid yeast, I used wyeast 1968 the last time I made this kit and it came out great, also with a dash of Strian Goldings dry hopped. Really, that's about as far as I'd go, it's a great kit in it's own right. Although I make it as a full strength, so I use 1kg LDME rather than the 500g the kit suggests.

I had one finish high ~1.020 on 1469 using 2kg LDME in 25L

A good one with no boil might be:

1.7kg Coopers English Bitter
750g LDME
250g Sugar
15g Styrian Goldings dry hopped
Yeast: 1469 / 1968
21L

OG 1.043
FG 1.010
IBU 35.1
EBC 26.0
ABV 4.5%

35 IBU is fairly high so if you dont want it so bitter maybe a 25L batch with 1.0kg LDME and 500g Sugar for 29.5 IBUs and 4.6% ABV

Got one that I'm drinking right now, and it is really quite good...

1kg Light Malt extract
6500ml Water brought to boil

15g Fuggles boiled for 15mins
15g Fuggles boiled for 1min

Added to fermenter with 1 can Coopers English Bitter goo

Made up to 22L

Used the kit yeast.

Pitched on 27 November 2009
Secondary on 7 December 2009
Bottled on 28 December 2009

Bulk Primed with sugar aiming for 2.3 volumes CO2

It is really tasting very good :chug:

Edit: sorry, just re-read OP - you wanted something quick !!

Thanks for the ideas,

roo_dr that is a quick recipe to me, just a 15 min boil
and dump it all in the fermenter is great. I don't have time for grains at the moment
and a 3hr brew.

L_Bomb the 250g of sugar is a great idea, I might even make it brown sugar to bring some caramel notes.

"maybe a 25L batch with 1.0kg LDME and 500g Sugar for 29.5 IBUs and 4.6% ABV"

or better still a 21 litre batch with 1.0kg LDME and 500g Sugar 35 IBU and 5.4%
I might go 22.5 litre for 5.1%.

So between us we have:

Volume: 22.5 litres abv 5.1%
1 can English Bitter
1.0 kg LDME
0.5 kg (Brown) Sugar

15g Fuggles ( 15 min )
15g Fuggles ( 1 min )
15g Styrian Goldings (dry hopped)

Here's a favourite kit&kilo that I regularly did before I moved to AG....

1.7kg Coopers English Bitter, 1.5kg Coopers Malt Extract (Amber),

30 minute boil = 3.5 litres water, add 250g Dark Crystal, 100g Caramunich II, add 40g EKG at 20 minutes, 10g Pride Ringwood 10 minutes stain into fermenter with already dissolved extracts, dry pitch Safale S-04 yeast.

This used to be a house favourite and very quaffable.

Cheers
