Economic prostitution, I calls it!

Hey, doesn't CAMRA have beer-related investments?.
Maybe they should pool resources for a Greene King buyout and stop the Ridleys closure, or reopen (if it's too late by then), after sacking those pig-ba$tard$ on the board who made the original bad decision.

Damn. That's not fair. :(

No more of their anagram-rich ESX Best Bitter.

They'll be missed. Their beers were nice.

CAMRA's investment clubs investments are far too tiny to have any effect other than asking awkward questions at company AGMs.

Ridley's is a pretty little brewery in the middle of nowhere in the Essex countryside making good beer and running some very decent village pubs. I can't image what will happen to the Brewery itself- the chance of it being allowed to be developed as a housing estate (as the CAMRA website suggests) seems extremely minimal.

It's hard to see what Greene King gets out of it except to remove one more competitor in an area where they already have a near monopoly. None of the Ridleys brands are big enough to interest them and not many of the pubs will either.

So it seems that they are just being pissants, at best, and at worst are being flaming mongrels (to quote Alf Stewart, from Home & Away).
